Writing Strands 5 is when all the groundwork really comes together from 3 & 4, as well as all the reading (through schoolwork, personal and assigned reading) they have done up and to this point. It is worth every lesson to see how this program meshes writing and reading together since as a writer you will be having others read your work. My daughter likes writing, not loves, but likes. This program has definitely developed her writing abilities through a strong understanding of the skills (i.e. organization) and options (setting, mood etc.) she has available to her as a writer. I think a lot (not all) of people that don't like this program didn't stick with it long enough to see the results. I honestly don't think there is any quality writing program that doesn't take some work to see results.
