It is scripted, so well. When I'm teaching my son he really understands their explanations, (better than my own attempts). I would tell parents that this is worth the money, considering there are even more expensive ones out there. The best part is that my son really enjoys math this year, and the way this is developed keeps me organized. Hooray! Reviewed by Laura Loftus (Gainesville, FL), June 01, 2010This program really helps the child learn the math facts. I enjoy the scripted lessons and my child enjoys the worksheets. Reviewed by Kristina Transue (Evans, GA), February 20, 2010We have enjoyed Saxon Math. We switched to this program from a different one, and are very pleased. In our first year of homeschooling I found the program to be very helpful. The teacher guide takes you through step by step what you need to do for your child. The assesssments helped me to figure out where to start my daughter who had been previously enrolled in public school. We tried a few of the assessments and started her further along in the curriculum. I do adapt the script to meet the needs of my children, to avoid boring them with concepts they have already grasped. The approach lets the student work on a concept until they have mastered it. It is both comforting and encouraging to see the student grasp a concept they may struggle with initially. Reviewed by Rayna Malone (Yaphank, NY), November 16, 2009HUGE fan of the Saxon math program. Children do not have the option not to learn. The course material is gone over - back and forth - so many times that it is truly ingrained in them. My daughter (7) was having a horrible time in math until this program. She is doing terrific and has grown to love math. It is the greatest gift. My experience with the program has been echoed by MANY teachers that I know and respect. I could not be any happier than I am with this program. Reviewed by Ruth (Cambridge, On,), November 02, 2009I just love this curriculum!!! It introduces new concepts thoroughly then reviews them regularly. I've used it with my 3 children and find it very easy to teach 3 different grades at the same time - it's so organised. Reviewed by Cheryl Bruner (Longmont, CO), September 18, 2009There is a lot of review involved, which I'm tempted to jump ahead before she gets bored. But I love that every day they touch on calendar, clock, math facts, and more. She'll have a much better foundation than her two older siblings! The math separate manipulative kit is also great. A big tub of everything called for in the plan. You could collect some of these things around the house, but it's all in that kit. Reviewed by Sandra Mckettrick (Appling, GA), March 06, 2009Our family has homeschooled for 12 years. When it came time for our youngest to begin first grade, my oldest son suggested that we begin his sister with Saxon math because his transition from our previous math curriculum to Saxon during his high school years was difficult. His thought was that it would be easier for her if we used Saxon from the beginning. Well, first grade has come and gone and we were very pleased. We love the "Meeting Book" beginning our day with the calendar. I encourage all homeschoolers to investigate all options, but I highly recommend Saxon math. Using this product does promote a strong foundation in math. Reviewed by Tina Chambers ( WV), October 03, 2008This kit is great. You won't be disappointed. This was suggested to me by someone who had homeschooled for years. This is a great program because of the repetition. Every new lessons spirals the lesson before. It is so hands on with the manipulatives (purchased separately and you really do need them), that it makes learning fun and easy. My daughter struggled with Math and was one of my primary reasons for homeschooling and she loves it and is always excited to learn something new. The test after every 10 lessons let you know exactly what they are retaining, so there is no question as to if they are learning. Great program and we will definitely use it again next year. I can't say enough good things. Write a review of Saxon Math 2, Home Study Kit Other Customers Also PurchasedFind Related ProductsAuthor/Artist Review |
