I have a daughter who struggles in math, and has since the very beginning. Every concept has been a hurdle to overcome. After using Making Math Meaningful for every year, she began to stumble when it came to the pre-Algebra lessons. I switched to this Bob Jones method, and we've now completed the year with success. Yes, she still has to work very hard, but she likes this program very much. I like the teacher's manual, too, it is easy for me to use. We have found only a few editing errors, and, it is not a perfect program, but it gets an excellent rating from me for overall usability and flow.

I really like BJU pre-algebra. The organization is well done and the stories that relate math to life are interesting. The only thing I do not like is that sometimes more than one way to do a problem is introduced in the same lesson. Then the student is supposed to do the same types of problems with two different methods. My so is not strong in math, so I easily remedy this by having him use the same method throughout the lesson.
