Students entering college often have to take remedial classes before they're allowed to progress, and high school students often write no more than a few paragraphs or a book report. Wherever one looks, one sees students that don't know how to write well across the genres.

Write with the Best focuses on the actual skills of successful writers, and encourages emulation of the literary giants of the world. Realizing that the literature of great writers is the key to successful writing for everyone, students will look at pieces from those who knew how to proofread and analyze, and will be encouraged to look at good writing, as well as write pieces from every writing genre.

Designed to be a twenty-week program, it can be gone through more slowly if skill mastery is not achieved. Students will learn how to write descriptive paragraphs, dialogue, short stories, fables, friendly letters, rhyming verse, ballads and more. Each unit includes a literary piece with historical background, and starred objectives for each day spent in the unit. All is contained in a 1.5" thick three-ring-binder. Grades 3-12, Volume 1.

This writing program is great! It is easy to teach. Children will learn to write at a pace that is perfect for them.

If you want to expand your children's creative writing, as well as teach them grammar lessons within their own writing, this is a great text. I am amazed at the amount of information inside! Alternate literature passages for each lesson are listed in the back, so you can work on each segment as many times as you want.
