We used Horizons for K, 1, and part of 2, but it started to move too fast and my son could not keep up. It was very frustrating for both of us. I tried Math-U-See and that did not work either. I tried Saxon Math 3 and that was good for the most part but it was so tedious and monotonous. As a last ditch effort, I reluctantly ordered this math from MCP. It looks really dry to me, but my son is doing well with it. The teacher's manual is good but not as good as Saxon's. (I got spoiled by having everything scripted for me.) I consider the teacher's manual a necessity if you want to successfully get the most out of the book. Some of it is confusing to me but hey it's working for my son and that's the most important thing.
