6 of 6 Reviews Showing: Reviewed by Heather, Homeschool mom to 2Blessings (Corona, CA), June 01, 2010RATING BOTH THE STUDENT TEXT & THE ANSWER KEY: I was definately suprised to receive the answer key last week (05/2010) and find the quality so "simple" and plain. It is printed on regular copy paper, with a colored piece of copy paper as the cover. Luckily it has a large enough margin I will be able to hole punch it and put it into a protective cover to make it last. The student text is MUCH better quality... more along the lines of what I am used to from other vendors. It has a glossy, stonger, soft cover. I gave both a 5 based on the price. It is quite fair for what you are getting here. However, I will be using the product next school year. It has a simple answer key. Size 12, Times New Roman font, Test Answers in back, 36 unitis total (5 lessons per unit). The student book shows several font sizes in Ariel and Times New Roman, shown in orange and black ink. It appears to have lots of different activities. End of week tests are taken in the back of the book, so you can easily track progress. Also, I choose Book 5 even though my son is starting 6th grade next year because the table of contents listed so many interesting topics, such as geography, anatomy, law, health, ecomomics. It actually seemed stronger and more interesting than the 6th grade book. We have always used BJU prior to this, but it is much more expensive. I wanted a change, but still desired Christian material. This book incorporates Bible verses for the student to write. This seems like a good fit overall. Reviewed by K Petersen (Roanoke, VA), July 06, 2009I love the spelling words in this book. Just enough to challenge my avid reader. Reviewed by Rose Hardison (Winterville, NC), May 28, 2009We've used CLP Spelling for 4 years and love it. The price is great, and my two children retain the information, which has enabled them to become good "spellers". A glossary in the back of the book would be a nice bonus for ease of locating definitions. Reviewed by Patti Caro (Ballston Spa, NY), January 07, 2009I love this series of books. This book was fun because the words were related to each other by subject. We were able to use this to supplement health, economics, geography, and other subjects. The geography was the best part. The book added map work to the regular spelling curriculum. Awesome series! Reviewed by AMY (MIDDLE TENNESSEE), April 10, 2008This workbook approach to spelling for fifth grade includes world geography with maps to label, astronomy terms, music terms, civics, economics, elements of matter, and more practical spelling terms that students will encounter in other subjects. The combination of Christian principles with interesting vocabulary makes this an excellent choice for those looking for a spelling program that teaches so much more than just spelling, at a family friendly price. Reviewed by Dawn Clark (Port Jervis, NY), June 15, 2000My 4th grader used this book, the words are not very challenging but the definitions and vocabulary lessons each day were. I love the way the book ties in the Holy Word and has them look up scripture. My daughter excells in the national spelling bee words and usually does 7th-12 grade words, so don't use her as a scale for the grade that you should use.
