Analogies 1 is instructional material. It presents a step-by-step approach to analogy problem-solving that makes mastery of the techniques manageable for students. Strategies include creating "bridge sentences" as a tool for examining analogies, looking out for words with more than one meaning, solving 2-step analogies, and identifying various types of analogies. These techniques are taught in depth in Book 1 and are reviewed in Books 2 and 3. Answer key in the back of the book.

This is absolutely the best for teaching and learning the skill of analogies. We purchased the Analogies I book and vocabulary quizzes as a supplemental to our language art curriculum. Once our daughter master the art of bridging and double bridging she flew through the book. We were so impressed that we purchased the next two books.

The "bridge sentence" instruction helped my daughter look at analogies in a new way. She used to struggle with analogies before, but after following the instruction and practice exercises in this book, she became quicker and better at solving more difficult analogy problems. Recommended!
